When he founded Beauchamp & How in 1908, Walter Beauchamp Sr. outfitted various parts of Toronto society, everyone from bankers and politicians to transit workers and the military. The brand he was building went on to become iconic in Canadian men’s fashion, an institution that would dress men and women in custom suits for generations to come. But more than 100 years later, with Walter’s grandson Terry at the helm, the family business was naturally winding down.
Holt Renfrew, about to open a men’s wear store at the time, expressed an interest in partnering with Walter Beauchamp Tailors. Now operating as “Walter Beauchamp by Holt Renfrew,” Terry and his team provide Holt Renfrew’s elite custom tailoring services. In acknowledgement of the company’s family roots, a portion of every custom suit sold is donated to another Beauchamp family legacy, the Bruce Beauchamp Memorial Fund at Toronto Foundation.
